NOW HIRING: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR THE WINTER HOUSE
Sheltering Oxford
An Ohio nonprofit organization
Operating the Oxford Winter House in 2026–2027
Oxford Winter House first operated in December 2025 with the following goals:
- Provide shelter to save the lives of people living outside who would not otherwise survive severe winter cold temperatures, to run December 1, 2025, to February 28, 2026, regardless of outdoor temperature.
- Provide services from agencies such as Job and Family Services, Ohio Means Jobs, Metropolitan Housing, SELF, and churches in order to have folks leave the shelter better than they came in. Priority areas to address could include insufficient job skills, need for mental and physical health treatment, sources of employment, financial education, interviewing, housing vouchers, SNAP funds/food stamps, counseling, Medicaid, Medicare.
- Sheltering Oxford is a new nonprofit organization that is forming to sustain the Oxford Winter House and other sheltering efforts for the years to come.
