About Sheltering Oxford

VISION:  We envision Oxford, Ohio to be a community where no one wants for safe, secure housing.

MISSION:  Support our neighbors experiencing homelessness or housing instability by providing temporary or permanent shelter.

VALUES:  Sheltering Oxford is guided by these core values:

  • COLLABORATION: We are committed to building intentional partnerships across Oxford—bridging community volunteers, faith communities, local governments, university stakeholders, and regional supportive services to create a unified response to the housing needs in our community. Nurturing relationships with residents, staff, volunteers, and community partners through open communication and collective goal-setting promotes a culture of trust as well as shared investment in the program’s future.
  • COMPASSION: We believe that housing is a fundamental human right. Every individual in our community deserves to be treated with compassion, unconditional respect, and fairness, regardless of their current housing status or background.
  • CARE: Experiencing homelessness is in and of itself traumatic. We are committed to providing humane care that preserves the dignity of all guests and is sensitive and responsive to their trauma experiences and histories including substance addiction, mental health needs and other concerns. We seek to help individuals secure safe, permanent housing as quickly as possible. We support holistic, individualized care that empowers residents to choose supports that align with goals of maintaining long-term independence.
